Izzy is Dallas's beautiful half-sister from the same solid red mom, bred to a wonderful red & white boy of Brazilian lines. We are thrilled to have her pedigree added to our program, and have already chosen a suitable boy for her first breeding later this year (2025). Izzy is a charmer. With warm eyes and a soulful expression, it's easy to fall in love with her!
A Backup Plan with Brazilian Roots
As her big brother Dallas grew up, it was looking like the possibility of him siring a litter started to look less and less likely. We figured that, with his premature birth and underdevelopment, something didn't do as it should in terms of his re-productivity. Preliminary evaluations of his semen came back as "questionable, at best". Low counts and poor quality dashed our dreams of continuing his line with offspring.
News of his mom expecting a new litter gave us some hope, though.
Sadie was bred to Cruz, a red & white boy sired by the BR Lake Park line out of Brazil. This is a line I had my eyes on, and decided on acquiring a new girl from this breeding to continue Sadie's beautiful temperament and structure in our lines. It was just our luck that the breeding produced a lovely red girl who bore her Mama's same soft, warm, expressive eyes.
As Izzy grew, we worried about her size, shyness and a few other key points that may have made it difficult to finish her Championship in the show ring. After contacting the breeder about the possibility of her washing out of the program, we made the decision to give her the summer show season to see what she would do.
Thank goodness we did!
Izzy blossomed in the outdoor rings, and something finally clicked. Her confidence grew, and with it, the subtle features we saw as potential finally developed, and she started achieving wins, even over already Championed dogs.
After finishing her Championship, we decided to let her be what she was best, a growing pet member of our family, until she matures to the age for breeding. Though she did great in the show ring, we could feel that she was never 100% comfortable being there, and the last thing we want to do is force our dogs into a position that makes them uncomfortable. She may come out once in awhile for select shows, as she does love to be with her people, but, for the most part, her show career is done.
We do plan to try her skills in various sports this year, and will update as we find the things that she enjoys the most.
