After taking a day to let my body and mind recoup a little bit, I guess now is a good time to really reflect on this weekend and how everything went.

It was almost a year in planning and I felt the stress and immense pressure to pull of something unforgettable. (This was all self-inflicted, by the way LOL) As the week of our show neared, I lost more and more sleep. Last minute additions, tweaks to ensure everything was JUST right, leaving food to the last possible minute to ensure freshness - it was a LOT. And being the control-freak perfectionist that I am, I didn't really want anyone stepping in and taking things off my plate. There was a certain way I wanted things to go, and if that meant all-nighters or spending days running all over the region on errands, then that's what I had to do.

We set up the space so it was ready for everyone to arrive, and then crossed our fingers that the Universe would allow the weekend to run smoothly. Our show family stepped up in a big way, helping with food prep, raffle setup and sales, and generally anything we needed help with. My family did a lot of the heavy lifting when it came to hauling tables and crates, setup and tear down and making sure I stayed sane.

Our event ran beautifully. The entry was large, the company was friendly, we had a wonderful judge, Jeff Horswell from the UK, who made everyone feel appreciated and warm with his smile and lovely demeanor. All of the exhibitors definitely enjoyed showing to him. He was not rushed in the ring and he was so kind to everyone. He took his time, weighed his options, and awarded great dogs. The wins were well deserved. I was happy with how they turned out.

We tried Brace for the first time, and I don't think it went all that badly.  Pepper was awarded Select Bitch, which made me beam with pride as my daughter showed her beautifully! Ginny showed her little Baby Puppy heart out and was given the award over her sister Parker (though both did wonderful for their first time in a ring!) Charlotte brought home Best Brood Bitch, Ace and Pepper their Brace Ribbon, and Mr Memphis was given a wonderful Award of Merit in a super competitive lineup.

All in all, I think the event was a huge success. I would love to do it again next year in the same place, as I felt that the show was able to accommodate us well and nobody had a particularly hard time getting there. Plus, with the prestigious events being held AND the huge Expo, it gave everyone LOTS to do and see! The days were long, but never boring. I just would like to see some better parking options, but it wasn't all bad. If I had timed the mornings a bit better and not been in such a rush coming in, the 2-minute walk to our entrance door would not have made a difference at all.

Our leftover food was thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated by the other exhibitors we welcomed to our space to eat (and I think it helped raffle sales a bit too LOL)

All in all, this weekend was by far my favourite of this year. I was so happy to see all our friends out together, enjoying themselves and having a great time. Conversations were had and plans were made for breedings later this year and next. It's going to be quite exciting to see how it all works out.  Some visitors dropped in to watch and cheer us on. Some of our pet families, fellow performance exhibitors and potential new puppy owners popped in and chatted, hung out, cheered on the show and added to the excitement of the weekend.

I just cannot express how full my heart is now that it's all done.

Thank you to EVERYONE for coming out, for all your help, for supporting the Specialty, supporting me and the BHCC, and putting your faith in me to give you a weekend to remember! I hope I did you proud and that you are all willing to give it another go next November!

Adding some photos I have been sent. As I get more, I will update the album. If you have any from the Basset Regional Specialty, please send them over to me so I can add them in.

HUGE congrats to all the winners!
