Another show weekend is in the books.

Ace picked up a couple more puppy breed wins, and his first point towards his Grand Championship.

Pepper dominated the Winners class for most of the weekend. She went Best of Opposite over a Special (her mom!!) AND beat her brother for Puppy on Saturday under Swedish judge Hans Almgren.

Dallas had a Select Dog win on Friday under French judge Celine Bottussi-Jocquel for another GCHB point.

But the REAL star of the weekend is little miss Izzy!

This girl has blown me away with how quickly she has turned everything around.

Here is the reality of being a breeder: NOT EVERY DOG WILL BE CUT OUT FOR YOUR PROGRAM. A show/breeding prospect can be identified around 8 weeks of age, but they're just that - a PROSPECT. You can never guarantee just how a dog will grow/grow up.

Around May of this year, we weren't convinced that Izzy was going to do very well in our program. Her growth was starting to create issues where there weren't any before, and she absolutely HATED the show ring. We spoke with the breeder and gave her a heads up about the potential that we'd be finding a permanent home for her as a pet. We would give her the summer to see what happened, and then make the decision.

But then, in just a few short weeks, everything changed. Her growth leveled out and the problems disappeared, and, seemingly overnight, she suddenly decided she knew how to be a show dog.

The points started racking up, and before we knew it, we were sitting just 2 points away from her Canadian Championship.

This weekend, under Irish judge Vincent O'Brien, Isabella went Winner's Female and on to Best of Opposite over Specials to secure her final points she needed! What a joy it was to be with her in the ring today as she moved flawlessly and stood so proudly. What a change in just a few short months!

All in all, we had another amazing weekend spent in wonderful company, great dogs and at a stellar venue! The weather wasn't super cooperative, but it could have been worse  ... and we made it work.

Huge thank you to the Oakville and District Kennel Club for another wonderful show this year! Can't wait to be back next year.
